48% Of Residential Care Communities Serve Residents With Complex Health Needs
Nearly half (48%) of the approximately 31,400 residential care communities (RCCs) in the United States reported having residents with all four of the following conditions in 2025: Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, diabetes, depression, and heart disease. These RCCs collectively served an estimated 1 million residents.
Across all RCCs, 14.8% reported none of the four conditions among their residents, while approximately 6.0% reported one, 12.2% reported two, and 19.1% reported three. The remaining 48% reported all four conditions among their residents.
