Medicaid Managed Care for People with Disabilities: Policy and Implementation Consideration for State and Federal Policymakers

In March 2013, the National Council on Disability (NCD), an independent federal agency committed to disability policy leadership, published a report based on findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDD) written under contract with NCD.  The report identifies 22 principles for successfully enrolling people with disabilities into managed care plans. The report provides an overview of Medicaid and Medicaid disability benefits, in addition to recommendations for implementation of managed health care and long-term supports for all subpopulations of Medicaid-eligible people with disabilities, including those with physical, developmental, behavioral, and . . .
