New Jersey To Close Two Developmental Centers By End Of 2014
On February 25, 2014, the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) announced that it was moving forward on plans to close the North Jersey Developmental Center (NJDC) and the Woodbridge Developmental Center (WDBR) by the end of 2014. NJDC is slated to close on July 1, 2014 and WDBR will close on January 1, 2015. NJDC currently has 186 residents; WDBR has 229 residents. Individuals and their families have the option to consider care in a community home or in an alternate developmental center.
