Virginia Seeking Solutions To Improve Public Mental Health Crisis System
In December 2013, Virginia began seeking solutions for improving its public mental health crisis system and the state is considering changes to the civil commitment statutes, and requirements for facilities providing temporary detention holds. On January 31, 2014, the Governor’s Task Force on Mental Health Services and Crisis Response released eight interim recommendations; a final report and recommendations will be released by October 1, 2014.
