About 21% of health care facility administrators reported in a survey that during 2013 they staffed psychiatrist or psychologist positions for one or more days using temporary professional staff through locum tenens contracts. Among the survey responses, primary care, hospitalists, and behavioral health were the top three specialties in highest demand for temporary professional staffing in 2013.
