Rhode Island Reaches ADA Settlement On Sheltered Workshops & Facility-Based Day Programs

On April 8, 2014, the United States Department of Justice announced it had entered into a settlement agreement with the state of Rhode Island, to resolve violations to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This agreement gives 2,000 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) the right to work in real jobs at competitive wages. The state will fund employment and day services in integrated community settings.
