Texas Children’s Rights Lawsuit Trial Set For December 2014
A class action lawsuit filed by Children’s Rights against the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is going to trial in December 2014. The lawsuit, M.D., v. Perry, alleges that DFPS violates the constitutional rights of children who are in long-term foster care, a status known as permanent managing conservatorship, and fails to ensure the safety, permanency, and well-being of all children in its custody. The class in M.D. v. Perry includes more than 12,000 children in foster care.
