In New York State Nursing Homes, 18% Of Residents Recieved Off-Label Antipsychotics

During 2013, an average of 18.7% of long-stay nursing home residents in New York State received off-label antipsychotic. Across the state's nursing homes, the prevalence ranged from 2% of residents to 50%. The prevalence of off-label antipsychotic use varied regionally, from the low 16.2% off-label antipsychotic use rate in the Western region to 19.9% in the New York City metropolitan region.
