Pennsylvania Seeks Health Plans For Healthy Pennsylvania Private Option Medicaid Expansion

On May 8, 2014, Pennsylvania released a request for applications (RFA 04-14) seeking private market health plans to offer Healthy Pennsylvania Program plans to the Medicaid expansion population estimated at 500,000 individuals. Applications are due by June 10, 2014. The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW), Office of Medical Assistance Programs seeks to offer at least two insurance plans in each of the commonwealth’s nine insurance regions. The Healthy Pennsylvania Program is scheduled to launch on January 1, 2015. The contracts will run for three years, followed by two optional one-year extensions.
