START-UP Entrepreneurship Pilot Helped 24% Of Participating Individuals With Disabilities Become Self-Employed

The federal Department of Labor START-UP entrepreneurship pilot program in three states for individuals with disabilities helped 24% of the 194 participants become self-employed. A total of 194 persons with disabilities were enrolled; 28% had cognitive or mental disabilities, 47% had physical impairments, and the remainder had medical, visual, or hearing impairments, or disabilities that were not disclosed.
