ONC Data Brief No. 2: HITECH &Health IT Jobs: Evidence From Online Job Postings

For this report released in May 2012, Michael F. Furukawa, Ph.D.; Danielle Vibbert, MPH; and Matthew Swain, BBA of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) examined trends in health information technology jobs. The authors reviewed online job posting data from the Job Data Mart, a proprietary database of O’Reilly Media, Inc. and used the online job postings as a proxy for labor demand. Since 2009, the number of companies with online health information technology job postings increased by 94%, and the number of postings tripled from 4,850 per month to 14,512 . . .
