CMS Verifying Discrepancies In 25% Of Health Insurance Marketplace Applications
For 25% of eight million people who received a health insurance premium tax credit, their applications were missing information or had a discrepancy which required the federal Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to step in to verify that the discrepancy has been corrected and that the individual is eligible for a tax credit. The individuals were asked to provide additional information. As of the end of May 2014, there were approximately two million discrepancies.
