TMS Therapy Results In Symptom Relief For 53% Of TRD Patients In Six Weeks

After six weeks of treatment, 53% of people diagnosed with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (TRD) who were treated with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) experienced symptom relief and reported having either no or mild depression symptoms. Among a control group of people diagnosed with TRD who were taking oral antidepressants, 38% reported having symptom relief after six weeks of treatment. The percentage of patients who experienced a remission of symptoms after six-weeks of acute TMS treatment ranged from 27% to 37%, depending on the assessment tool used.
