Health Care M&A Deal Value Up 152% In First Quarter 2014

The value of health care mergers and acquisitions (M&A) during the first quarter of 2014 totaled $12.3 billion, about 152% over the value of transactions during the first quarter of 2013. The actual number of transactions was about the same for both periods.

The activity and transaction values were reported by PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Q1 2014 US Health Services Deals Insights. The report analyzes merger and acquisitions announced from January 1 to March 31, 2014 and compares the activity to the same quarter in 2013. Additional findings were as follows:
