Ohio Enacts Criteria For Addiction Recovery Housing

On June 16, 2014, Ohio Governor John Kasich signed legislation enacting criteria for addiction recovery housing that define the service and the state expectations for contracted provider organizations. The new criteria were included in House Bill (HB) 483 the Mid-Biennium Review (MBR) appropriations bill, which also provided $5 million in funding for about 400 recovery housing beds. The legislation requires that recovery housing meeting the criteria be included in a continuum of care established by local Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) boards, and that the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) can withhold . . .
