CMS Finalizes Meaningful Use Reporting Options To Account For Delays In Availability Of 2014-Certified EHR Technology
The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) finalized rule changes that relax Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program meaningful use timelines for 2014. Under the final rule, if eligible professionals (EPs), eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) attest they were unable to fully implement 2014 edition certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) in 2014 because of delays in availability of 2014 edition CEHRT, they will be given until 2015 to fully implement 2014 edition CEHRT for demonstration of meaningful use.
