66% Of Ex-Offenders With Behavioral Health Disorders Gain Employment Through Centerstone Program

About 66% of ex-offenders with mental illness and/or addiction disorders who participated in a Centerstone of Indiana two-year grant-funded recidivism prevention project gained employment. The program, called Helping Offenders through Partnership and Employment (HOPE), launched in 2012; Centerstone enrolled 416 participants. During the two-year program, nearly three-quarters of those who gained employment have remained employed. About 41% of the participants obtained a credential or degree necessary for securing a better position of employment in the future.
