VOICES Launches Community Center For Transition Age Youth In Monterey County, California
On September 4, 2014, VOICES hosted the grand opening of the Epicenter, a community center in Monterey County, California for transition-age youth ages 16 to 24 who are transitioning out of foster care or juvenile detention. The center staff of transition-age youth provides peer-to-peer coaching and co-located VOICES staff provide assistance with Cal-Fresh and Medi-Cal eligibility, educational counseling and assistance accessing financial aid, mental health support services, employment support services, and linkages to safe housing options. The Epicenter anticipates serving up to 200 youth during its first year.
