Medicare beneficiaries with multiple chronic conditions and high predicted Medicare spending who received care through a Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO) reported receiving more timely access to care than they had through the Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) system. Beneficiaries attributed to ACOs also reported that their primary care provider organization, as part of the ACO, had more information about care provided by specialists than before when the primary care organization participated only in Medicare FFS.
