South Dakota Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Initiative Work Group Report
The report was released on December 1, 2014, by the South Dakota Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JJRI) Work Group. The work group was created by the governor and state legislators in June 2014 to analyze the state’s juvenile justice system to identify trends in juvenile arrest, disposition, probation, and corrections. The work group was directed to develop policy recommendations for increasing public safety by reducing juvenile recidivism rates, hold juvenile offenders more accountable, and reduce juvenile justice costs by developing community-based practices to reduce the state’s reliance on out-of-home placements . . .
