Pharmacist Involvement In Outpatient Medication Therapy Management Interventions Reduced Adverse Drug Events
Outpatient-based medication therapy management (MTM) interventions delivered by community pharmacists reduced adverse drug events among Medicare beneficiaries compared to beneficiaries who received traditional care. Additionally, MTM delivered by community pharmacists increased the weighted generic dispensing ratio when compared with call-center pharmacists. MTM interventions are intended to reduce the incidence of polypharmacy, preventable adverse drug events, medication misuse, and increase medication adherence.
