U.S. Health Care Spending Hit $2.9 Trillion, Up 3.6% Over 2012
United States national health care spending during calendar year 2013 reached $2.9 trillion, up 3.6% over the $2.8 trillion spent in 2012. The $2.9 trillion in 2013 includes personal health care expenditures on medical goods and services consumed by patients, the net cost of private health insurance premiums, government administration, and government public health activities. Personal health care expenditures in 2013 were $2.46 trillion, about 3.8% higher than the $2.37 trillion in 2012.
