The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the federal Department of Health and Human Services conducted the review after receiving an allegation that the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene had claimed unallowable room and board costs for participants in its Community Pathways Waiver program. The review included claims submitted between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2012; during this period there were 5.4 million claim lines.
