Volume Of Chronic Pain Procedures Increased 13.2% In Minnesota From 2010 To 2012

Between 2010 and 2012, the volume of procedures conducted in Minnesota to reduce chronic pain increased by 13.2%, according to claims data in the state’s All Payer Claims Database. Across the period, a total of 660,728 chronic pain procedures were delivered. About 220,000 chronic pain procedures were delivered annually to 83,000 individuals. About, 44% of the 83,000 individuals treated each year received only one procedure, and 39% received three or more procedures. The majority (58.9%) of chronic pain procedures were delivered within a physician office or clinic setting.
