Nebraska Child Welfare Outcomes & Costs Similar For State-Run & Privatized Regions
The outcomes and the costs of caring for children involved with Nebraska's child welfare system are similar for the privatized region served by Nebraska Families Collaborative (NFC) and the regions served by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). NFC provides case management, care coordination, preventive services, and out-of-home care in the Eastern Service Area that includes Douglas and Sarpy counties under a $59.9 million contract that began July 1, 2014 and ends June 30, 2015.
