In 2006 Non-Profit Hospital CEOs Earned Average Compensation of $500,000
OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News According to an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) survey of not-for-profit hospitals, chief executive officers (CEOs) earned an average of $490,431 in total compensation. Within a group of 20 non-profit hospitals with the highest CEO compensation rates, the average total compensation was $1.4 million; the median compensation was $1.3 million. However, the IRS noted that nearly all the compensation amounts were upheld as within the range of reasonable compensation given the hospital system sizes and activities.
