Illinois State University Autism Program Opens New Center in Normal

OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Intellectual & Developmental Disability Services On January 20, 2009, Illinois State University (ISU) opened a new affiliate site for autism services in the renovated former Illinois SoldiersÂ’ and SailorsÂ’ ChildrenÂ’s School in Normal, Illinois. The new site will initially serve 40 to 50 families. ISU established the new site because services were previously provided at three disparate sites. Consolidating the services at one site is expected to simplify access for parents seeking services. Services include individual treatment and social skills groups for children with autism, parentsÂ’ groups, siblingsÂ’ groups, and training for day care . . .
