BlueCross BlueShield of Massachusetts Supports Computerized Physician Order Entry Systems
OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News On February 14, 2008, BlueCross BlueShield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) announced its support for computerized physician order entry (CPOE) systems and will require its participating health systems adopt CPOE systems. CPOE systems review patient prescriptions and alert physicians to possible adverse drug events, such as patient allergies or drug interactions. Health systems will need to install a CPOE system by 2012 to participate in BCBSMA bonus programs.
