CMS Delays Start of Medicaid Cost Sharing Until December 2009

OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News On March 27, 2009, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) delayed implementation of a final rule about Medicaid cost sharing again. Implementation of the rule entitled, “Medicaid Program; Premiums and Cost Sharing” will not start until December 31, 2009. Implementation was first delayed on January 20, 2009, in accordance with a memorandum from newly-inaugurated president Barack Obama ordering a 60-day moratorium on implementing the rule.
