For United States companies, the average employer costs for health insurance per employee hour rose from $1.60 to $2.59 between 1999 and 2005, a 62% increase. The percentage of jobs for which employer costs for health insurance costs exceeded 10% of payroll rose from 38% to 56% between 1999 and 2005.
