North Carolina’s Medicaid Rate Cuts—Including Mental Health & Residential Treatment —Projected to Save $200 Million

OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News North Carolina expects to save $200 million for fiscal years 2010 and 2011 after implementing a Medicaid rate cut on October 1, 2009. The reduction affected 20 Medicaid reimbursement rates for 20 services and goods—including mental health and residential treatment services. The rate reduction was part of a budget cut enacted by the North Carolina General Assembly. The state has nearly two million people enrolled in Medicaid.
