CDHPs Make Consumers More Cost-Conscious

OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News About 71% of consumers with a consumer-directed health plan (CDHP) reported cost-conscious attitudes and behaviors. Only 49% of consumers with traditional health insurance plans reported being cost conscious about medical care. Those with a CDHP were more likely to consider cost when using health care services, compared to those with a traditional health plan. Between 2005 and 2006, enrollment in CDHPs doubled, from three million in 2005 to six million in 2006.
