Calit2 Developing Wireless Telehealth Monitoring Devices
OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) is developing wireless telehealth devices that monitor and transmit data via cell phones equipped with Bluetooth technology. Prototypes have been developed for a wireless-enabled scale and a blood pressure monitor. Both devices send readings to nearby phones capable of data transmission. At routine intervals, the phone will automatically upload the information to an Internet-accessible central database.
