Physicians in Medicare Medical Home Demonstration Project May Receive Extra Payments to Offset Extra Work
OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News Physicians participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Medical Home Demonstration project that will start in 2010 may receive additional monthly reimbursements to offset the increased cost of additional case managers, liability insurance, and electronic medical record systems. CMS was advised by a committee of the American Medical Association to arrange the additional monthly reimbursements and link the payments to a three-tiered schedule that reflects how comprehensively the practice has adopted the medical home concept.
