CDC Reports Rise in Diabetes, Including 76% Rise Among 30-Year Olds
OPEN MINDS On-Line News The incidence of diabetes increased markedly in the United States between 1990 and 1998, including a 76 percent rise in cases among people in their 30's. A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported the findings. The study attributes much of the rise to the increase in obesity among Americans, with more than half of the residents of the country being overweight. Most diabetes victims in the U.S. suffer from Type 2 diabetes, commonly called adult onset diabetes, which accounts for 90 percent to 95 percent of the cases . . .
