OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News Abaxis offers a portable device to deliver point-of-care blood analysis that provides lab results in 12 minutes. The Piccolo xpress is about the size of a shoebox and weighs about 11 pounds. The system includes a series of single-use plastic discs called regent discs that contain the chemicals needed to perform a variety of tests on blood, serum, or plasma samples.
