In 2008 Health Saving Accounts Increased From 1.7 Million to 2.2 Million
OPEN MINDS On-Line News Strategic Health Care News A year ago, financial firms serving as health savings accounts (HSA) administrators or custodians reported that they collectively held more than $2.33 billion in 1.76 million HSA accounts; by January 1, 2008, assets had grown to $3.2 billion in 2.2 HSA million accounts. Since 2004, consumers have opened 2.9 million HSA accounts. The average account balance in most HSAs remained largely unchanged at $1,348, only a $7 increase since January 2008.
