27% More Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans for Dual Eligibles in 2011
OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News For the 2011 plan year, the number of Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans (SNPs) for people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid has increased by 27%, from 201 in 2010, to 256 in 2011. Although the number of dual eligible SNPs increased, overall the total number of SNPs continued to decline from the 2008 census of 753 plans; for 2011, only 408 SNPs will be in operation.
