OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News Since 2000, the percentage of Americans under the age of 65—workers and their dependents—with employer-sponsored health insurance has dropped by 6.4 percentage points; in 2000, 68.3% of working age adults had employer-based health coverage; in 2008 only 61.9% did. During the same period, the number of Americans lacking health insurance increased by 7.5 million, from 38.2 million in 2000 to 45 million in 2008.
