California Accepting Applications for Participation in Proposition 36
OPEN MINDS On-Line News The California Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs (ADP) is currently accepting applications to license and certify facilities that wish to provide treatment to people arrested for drug possession, under the state's newly-passed Proposition 36. Proposition 36 requires judges to send first or second-time offenders arrested for drug possession to treatment centers instead of prison. The proposition requires the state to be ready to treat an additional 3,000 addicts each month by July 1, 2001.
