CMS Expands Medicare Telehealth Coverage for 2011

OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Hot News The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized its proposal to add subsequent hospital care and nursing facility services to the list of category 1 telehealth services for calendar year 2011. These services will be available for all patients. The proposal limits subsequent hospital care services furnished through telehealth to one every three days; subsequent nursing facility services were limited to once every 30 days. CMS also expanded the list of telehealth originating sites specified in the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 to include hospital-based renal dialysis . . .
