PacifiCare Health Systems Announces Work Force Reductions

OPEN MINDS On-Line News PacifiCare Health Systems, Inc. announced on December 13, 2000 that it would trim its corporate headquarters and regional HMO operations staff by about 550 employees, or 6 percent of the company's work force. The staff reductions will begin on January 2, 2001. The majority of the positions are being eliminated during the next two months. More than half of the staff reductions are related to marketing positions, primarily for the Medicare + Choice program, and about 120 are corporate employees. In connection with these reductions, the company expects to record a restructuring charge of $15 . . .
