Over Half of Consumers Believe Generic Prescriptions The Same As Brand Name
OPEN MINDS Weekly News Wire Strategic Health Care News Approximately 51% of consumers believe that brand name drugs are no different than their generic equivalents, according to a recent survey of consumers taking prescription drugs. Additionally, 22% of respondents were unsure of how generic drugs compared to brand name medications, while only 26% believed there is a difference between generics and brand names. In the same survey, 46% of consumers agreed with the premise that brand name medications are a luxury purchase, while 60% of consumers agree that brand name medications are sometimes a necessary expense.
