Health Insurance Exchanges Expected To Generate $205 Billion In Premium Revenue By 2021
Health insurance exchanges could generate as much as $205 billion in new premium payments by 2021, the majority of which is expected to be generated by newly insured individuals. Starting in 2014, 12 million Americans are expected to purchase health insurance using the new exchanges. By 2012, 25 million people are expected to purchase insurance in the individual exchanges, and another four million are expected to purchase insurance in the small group exchanges, known as the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP).
