Health Care Information Technology Merger & Acquisition Activity Increased By 21% In 2012; McKesson Tops The Field

In 2012, there were 380 merger and acquisition transactions related to health information technology, an increase of 21% over 2011. The 380 transactions had an aggregate value of $11.96 billion, an increase of five percent over 2011. During the same period in 2011, there were 315 transactions, with an aggregate value of $11.36 billion. The most active ‘acquirer’ in 2012 was McKesson Corporation with six transactions.
