66% of Patients See a Physician for Follow-Up Care Within 30 Days of Hospital Discharge
Only about 66% of adults over age 21 saw a physician for follow-up medical care within 30 days after discharge from a hospital. About half of those who failed to see a physician within 30 days post-discharge eventually did within 90 days. However, at 90 days after discharge, 17.6% still had not seen a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant for follow-up care related to the hospitalization.
