Remote patient monitoring is projected to reach 1.8 million patients worldwide by 2017. In 2012, 308,000 patients were remotely monitored in the United States alone, for a combination of congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, hypertension, and mental health conditions. From 2010 to 2011, usage of remote patient monitoring also increased by 22.2%. The telemedicine technologies market is expected to reach $7 billion by the end of 2013.
