25% of U.S. Youth Receive Treatment for Mental Health Disorders
In 2009, about 25% (6.7 million) of the 25 million youth in the United States between the ages of 12 and 17 received mental health treatment or counseling. Youth most commonly received treatment in educational or outpatient settings, with a small portion of the population receiving treatment through a general medical, inpatient, or juvenile justice settings.
