Feds Move To Increase Monitoring Of Meaningful Use Incentive Payments
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has moved to increase its monitoring of Medicare and Medicaid Meaningful Use incentive payments after a report from the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) indicated that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) had not been verifying the accuracy of professionals’ or hospitals’ self-reported Meaningful Use information. Eligible health care professionals and hospitals self-report Meaningful Use information to CMS as part of their qualification to receive incentives.
