Adult Medicaid Population More Likely To Have Chronic Conditions Than Adults With Employer-Sponsored Plans

Adult Medicaid beneficiaries are more likely to have preventable chronic health conditions than adults with health benefits through an employer or union- sponsored health insurance plan. Among adult Medicaid beneficiaries, 30% are obese, 24% have high blood pressure, 17% have high cholesterol, and 15% have diabetes. Among adults with employer or union-sponsored health benefits, 27% are obese, 20% have high blood pressure, 15% have high cholesterol, and 8% have diabetes.
